Have Shoes Will Travel

It has begun.

We are already a busy little team. This past Sunday Emily and Mitch ran in an inagural race event here in Sacramento, the new Super Bowl Sunday Race along the American River Parkway. I hear it was a real kick and both enjoyed it immensly.

One of the exquisite joys of running and or cycling is participating in a destination race or event. Becky recently left the gloom and cold that is Sacramento in the winter, to venture down to Carlsbad for a Half Marathon. I spent this past weekend in Southern California doing the same.

Gorgoeus spectacular day along the ocean, watching the surf, the seagulls, marking the miles with the piers along the way, turning into the sun for the last five miles, loving the surfer spectator lined streets to the finish. It was not by any means my fastest run but nonetheless, thrilling, as all out of town races are for me.

One of my goals for our Team in the near future is to find such an event that we travel to as a group. Becky is brainstorming fundraising event ideas for us so that we can do such a race. In the meantime, we have coming up very soon one of my favorites here in the hometown, the Shamrock'n half and relay. Soon after that the Zoo Zoom in Land Park. So get ready because very soon we are off to the races in a big way.

New Team Lucca 2010 bike gear, shirts and shorts have arrived. Here is your running mom modeling Luke's newly designed shorts and shirt (Such a geek!)

Please contact Emily or myself at goteamlucca@gmail.com or either of us through the Team Lucca Group page on Facebook for information regarding when and where to pick your jerseys up. Also if you are out running this Saturday, we will have them with us then. So as always would love to see you out there this weekend. We will have groups running 2, 4 and 6 miles.

Finally, this sounds like fun for all cyclists. I actually tried this past fall, to attend this same special speaking event at REI, yet by the time I arrived it had already soldout. So if you would like to go, I suggest you buy tickets online through REI and sooner than later as it may very well sell out again. Blair Robertson wrote about this event in the Bee today and you can also go directly to Sacbee.com to access it. The article is titled, "Adventure cyclist Weir hopes to inspire others". All of you who are facebook friends know what a wizard I am with all these new fangled computer related endeavors, so we can all only hope that I actully attached the link correctly this time.

See you soon. Happy Running. T
